Traditional 67 Sword Form. A quick introduction:

The Ripley Tai Chi Club offers practise in Yang Family 67 Sword Form.

The Sword Form follows on from learning the Hand Form. The principles apply to both, and the steps and moves are similar, (except you are holding a sword, as is your imagined opponent). The Sword Form is also done more quickly and with a Tassle. You must control both Sword and Tassle. The Tassle has a really annoying habit of wrapping around your Sword or wrist so it's not as easy as it sounds.

The Sword Form underlines the idea of using the imagination. You are never going to use a sword in real life. The imagination is also the same in the Form, but because with the Form you can practise the moves with a person without risk of serious injury, that idea can become a little blurred. The idea of using the imagination with a sword is more clearly understood.

The sword used is of a particular type called a Jian and the tassle must be in place when practising Yang Jun Family Sword Form. Weight and balance of the sword is very important as is the connection of the blade to the handle. So don't go buying cheap swords from pet stores. If you want to purchase a sword click Purchase Sword for options.
